Community Dinners

Displacement in Boyle Heights

Un Solo Sol is hosting two dinner-discussions about the gentrification unfolding in this community. Founded in 1870, the history of Boyle Heights has been shaped, sometimes violently, by dispossession and displacement ranging from the removal and internment of the Japanese during WWII, redlining by banks to prevent the Jewish community from acquiring loans to buy houses, carving up of entire blocks for the construction of multiple freeways, and the eviction of over 600 families living in Pico Aliso housing projects to name a few. Join us for this important dinner and discussion about what we do next.
